Social Creature-The Review

This was obviously not my favorite book.  But if you like dark, gritty reads, this might be the one for you.

Louise is an aspiring writer living in New York, working three jobs just to make ends meet.  When Louise is hired by Lavinia to tutor her younger sister, she is abruptly pulled into a world she only believed existed on social media.  Louise finds herself willing to go to great lengths to perpetuate the social climb she’s begun.  Just when she thinks she’s hit her stride, Louise’s story takes a familiar but deadly twist.

The writing was solid on this one, the story plausible.  My issue with it was nothing more than the gross feeling I had that people would actually go such extremes for “Likes.”   And maybe that was the intention of the book, to make us all think about the very visible and exploitative social media world we live in. Â
